They’d been ravaged where they stood, their fleshy throats torn open, skin hanging like a curtain at a peep show. The reins were rust colored with the dried blood and it splattered against the wagon in macabre patterns.
A little girl’s pink dress was ripped to shreds, red stains on the hem and the sleeves. Molly steeled herself for the rest of the scene. If she kept looking, she had a good idea what she’d find. She took a deep breath and rounded the wagon.

Six Sentence Sunday
From a UF project:
He found Bernadette’s body laid out in a plain wooden box. Her weathered hands had been crossed over her chest and a chain of wildflowers had been threaded through her linked fingers. Her long iron gray hair had been meticulously and lovingly braided, strands of hammered gold and silver woven into the lengths. She’d been carefully dressed in white, what looked to be an antique wedding dress. Her feet were left bare and more wildflowers were strewn around her ankles.
Sadie was draped over the box, her blond hair matted with the blood of victims who’d refused to leave the demon to her private grief. Her clawed hands had worn deep grooves in the side of the smooth pine box.

The Bathroom Reader of the Library of Congress
This is what I wanted to see more than any of the Smithsonians, the National Archives, or Ford's Theater.
The Library of Congress in all of its beautiful glory.
I was so impressed, I even took pictures in the bathroom. Yes, this picture is from the ladies room in the Library of Congress.
If that's not proof I'm an unrepentant bibliophile, I don't know what is.
That and um... when I saw Thomas Jefferson's Library, the original collection of books from when the Library was founded, I cried. I stood there, with my hands on the glass, my mouth open and tears streaming down my face. It was like a religious experience to be so close to those books and an integral part of my history as an American. It inspired and awed me all at once.
If you've never been, it's something to put on your bucket list.
Here's a few more pictures:
